Ham Study is one of the most effective ways to prepare for your amateur radio test. The questions you encounter are the actual ones you'll face on your exam. Our VE Team strongly recommends using Ham Study as a valuable tool to enhance your preparation. Check them out by clicking the website above!

New Ham?

Don't worry, we've all been there! Getting into a new hobby can feel like drinking from a fire hose. Amateur radio is no different, with countless rabbit holes to explore, which can often be overwhelming. From purchasing your first radio to deciding which antenna to build or buy, we’re here to help! We are currently developing an Elmer support line. Have a question or need some guidance? The Association is here for you and ready to assist! No more relying on Facebook groups where you might be heckled or ridiculed for asking questions.

Member Resource Tip #365

Interested in digital voice modes? Unsure about which mode to invest in? Here are 2 big key points and tips to consider before making a purchase to avoid disappointment:
Assess the infrastructure in your area. Are there repeaters already in place for the mode you're considering?
Check if others in your community are using that mode and gauge their level of activity.

*New*Ask a Ham!

Have a question about something radio related? Want a little one on one with someone that could help answer the question?

Submit a question and have it answered by our team or our community at large!

February 2026

Our monthly challenge is a simple one! Throughout February, make it a point to connect with a new ham on a local repeater. Enjoy a friendly QSO! It's the little things, like responding to a station requesting a radio check and letting them know how well they're coming through to the repeater, that make a difference.

Tennessee Amateur Radio Association will be launching our 2026 In Person Presentation request from here on December 1st 2025. Clubs or groups wishing to have the association present should fill out the form below.

The TAC System is open to all licensed amateur radio operators. We currently request that any nets be submitted for approval before hosting them on the TAC System. More info about the TAC System coming soon.
